This Meeting
- Meeting begins at 12:08 PM
- Steve (The Client) introduces himself to the team and vice versa, establishing that this is just an introductory meeting.
- Begin by discussing IT ideas
- Education-Game combinations
- Cross-cultural programs
- Information portals, eg Yahoo
- Discuss Commercial Model of product
- 2 levels - Applet & Application
- Mahjong - attractive to international base
- Superior strategy to other products
- Offering 4 players, at least 3 automated
- Briefly discussed Java's pluses (especially 1.2 with Swing interefacing for cross platform)
- Main focus will be on Chinese version of Mahjong, maybe US if there is room
- Bilingual game will be a plus
- It was suggested there be a big emphasis on strategy or the 'AI' of the game as well as the user interface
- Tentatively discussed superdistribution, time-sharing and user-pays system
- Steve agreed that graphics will be provided at a later stage by an external source
- Steve will provide some documentation regarding the 'Coding Standard' that the team is expected to abide by.
- Steve will investigate the relevance of his 'Generic Board Game' class to this project. (Its currently C++ and would need to be converted to Java).
- Steve will feed any Java information/code-examples he perceives as useful to the team, that he comes across.
- Steve is currently investigating the Java Web Server (as a replacement to Microsoft BackOffice/IIS server technology for the SolidSoftware.com.au web-site), and will pass on any information that might be relevant to the project.
- Steve will circulate a copy of the MOU (Memorandum Of Understanding) for the project, to all team members, after the department has signed it.
